Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of post-secondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, announced today that Ashford University has introduced a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law Enforcement Administration. The new degree program was designed for students who are interested in entering the field of law enforcement or for those who are currently in law enforcement and want to advance their careers. Created in close collaboration with law enforcement officials, the program aligns with the guidelines provided by the National Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (NCLEET).
The Bachelor of Arts in Law Enforcement Administration will provide the foundation and specialized coursework to enable graduates to manage and direct police and sheriff departments and other law enforcement agencies. The program will prepare students to pursue positions in many local, state and federal agencies, including Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Agencies, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Central Intelligence Agency and private security companies.
"The ever-increasing demands for technological and managerial competencies require law enforcement personnel to be current in the most up-to-date knowledge and resources," said Dr. James Jeremiah, Ashford University vice president of academic affairs. "Ashford's BA in Law Enforcement Administration provides the student with the relevant knowledge and requisite skills to meet today's challenges in law enforcement organizations."
"There are few programs like Ashford's BA in Law Enforcement Administration offered online," continued Jeremiah. "The online format makes the degree ideal for active-duty military and students in areas where state-of-the art programs are not available.
"The convenience of an online format addresses the expectations of today's working professional and separates the Ashford degree from other academic institutions," Jeremiah said.
Ashford University's Bachelor of Arts in Law Enforcement Administration is currently available online only. This degree does not lead to licensure or certification of any kind. Students graduating in this program will not be qualified as police officers, but will be qualified to manage and direct in many law enforcement agencies.
