Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of postsecondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, created an opportunity on Saturday, Oct. 30, for its San Diego employees to give back to the community, and neither rain nor chill could keep them from making the beach a better place.
Following a few words from Bridgepoint’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Clark, the morning’s downpour faded into a relaxed overcast. With garbage bags in hand, Clark and a host of Bridgepoint staffers combed San Diego’s Mission Beach, collecting all sorts of trash. In the end, and despite the wet start to their day, the Bridgepoint beach, bay and sidewalk volunteer crews managed to gather more than 370 pounds of rubbish.
“The hard work of Bridgepoint’s volunteers can have such an inspiring impact,” stated Ross Woodard, Bridgepoint Education’s chief marketing officer. “We can all make a difference.”
Bridgepoint Education’s efforts at Mission Beach also served as the inaugural Bridgepoint Heroes Day. This volunteer event was run in conjunction with San Diego Coastkeeper.
