Ashford University, in collaboration with Cox Communications, has awarded five military spouses Homefront Heroes Scholarships. The scholarships were presented by Ashford University president Dr. Elizabeth Tice on the field at Qualcomm Stadium during the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl on December 28.
The Homefront Heroes Scholarship recognizes the strength and support military spouses provide our nation’s service members. The scholarship covers tuition and books to help partners of military men and women complete their education at Ashford University.
The 2011 Homefront Heroes scholarship recipients are: Nicole McIntyre, Oceanside; Elizabeth Berry, Temecula; Helen Sandoval, Murrieta; Stephanie Lentell, San Diego; and Aisha Davis, Spring Valley. The scholarship winners were selected from a pool of applicants, who each submitted an essay on being “married to the military” and how the scholarship would enhance their future.
Ashford University, an educational institution owned by Bridgepoint Education, created the Homefront Heroes Scholarship program as a salute to the spouses of American service members. The program aligns with Bridgepoint Education’s social responsibility mission to focus on three areas in the community: education, youth and the military.
