The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (HLC) has approved University of the Rockies’ request for an additional location.
In a letter dated February 28, 2013, the HLC’s Institutional Actions Council (IAC) concurred with the focused visit team’s findings and approved the additional site to be located at the Tabor Center in downtown Denver, Colorado.
The additional location – to be known as the Denver Instructional Site – will be located at 1201 16th Street, Suite 200 in Denver. The site includes more than 30,000 square-feet of classroom and library space, student study areas, and “coaching classrooms.” The coaching classrooms incorporate video monitoring and two-way mirrors for instructional purposes.
“The Denver Instructional Site is a key component in the long-term strategic plan established by our Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Charlita Shelton, president of University of the Rockies. “The additional site will allow us to expand geographically and to make higher education accessible to even more individuals.”
Master’s- and doctoral-level programs offered in the University’s School of Organizational Leadership will be available in a face-to-face format at the Denver Instructional Site beginning in May 2013.
“We are pleased to be moving forward with the recommendations we received from HLC regarding geographic expansion,” added Dr. Shelton. “The impact of higher education is profound. Not only for individuals, but also for the communities in which they reside. This should be the beginning of many great University of the Rockies’ endeavors in the Denver area.”
