Waypoint Outcomes, a source of academic assessment and analysis technologies from Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE:BPI), today announced its conformance certification for Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) v1.1. The certification is a widely-used global technical standard for education applications conferred by the IMS Global Learning Consortium.
“The LTI v1.1 standard from IMS opens many doors for us and our customers,” said Beth Aguiar, vice president of business development and product marketing at Bridgepoint Education. “Waypoint Outcome’s conformance to LTI v1.1 will help more institutions easily integrate Waypoint’s unique authentic assessment tools with their Learning Management Systems. Bridgepoint Education supports the mission of the IMS Global Learning Consortium and is committed to open technology standards to improve educational outcomes.”
By developing open technology standards, LTI v1.1 has eliminated the need for costly and time-consuming custom programming. Users are able to safely integrate innovative learning applications and content for seamless access by students and teachers.
“LTI is enabling very large deployments of innovative e-textbooks and learning tools in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost prior to LTI,” said Dr. Rob Abel, chief executive officer of IMS. “Now with outcomes support, we are looking forward to breaking down the barriers to data that can help faculty, students, and institutions achieve better results.”
“IMS is very pleased that Waypoint Outcomes has achieved LTI certification as a tool provider,” stated Dr. Abel. “By incorporating LTI integration, Waypoint Outcomes will enable a more seamless experience for their customers across a wide range of integration scenarios.”
Waypoint Outcomes joins other LTI v1.1 conformant products such as Blackboard, Canvas, Courseload, Coursesmart, Desire2Learn, Learning Studio, LoudCloud, Moodle, OpenClass, Taskstream, and many others.
