Vickie Schray, senior vice president of regulatory affairs and public policy at Bridgepoint Education (NYSE: BPI), was invited to serve on the government relations/regulatory panel at the 2014 Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU) Annual Convention & Exposition. The conference was held June 16-18 at The Palazzo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
Schray joined three other executives for a panel discussion entitled, “The Next Federal State Authorization Rule – What It May Mean for APSCU Members.” The session summarized the current status of federal regulation of online education and the new proposed rules. The panel offered insight about the potential impact of the rules and the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement on state agencies, institutions, and students. Schray’s role on the panel was to represent the national institutional view.
“The higher education regulatory and public policy environment is in a rapid state of change,” said Schray. “As a result, the opportunity to work closely with others from our sector on issues of critical importance and to be an integral part of the national dialogue provides us with the opportunity to positively influence the outcome.”
Schray has previously presented at the APSCU Annual Convention & Exposition. She also presents to various groups on the current and future state and federal regulatory environment and public policy issues related to higher education and reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.
The 2014 APSCU Annual Convention & Exposition is the premier event for private sector higher education. The annual convention brings together more than 300 exhibit booths and nearly 1,500 attendees from across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
