Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) raised $40,000 for Rady Children’s Hospital during the Eighth Annual Bridgepoint Education Golf Invitational held on Monday, September 21, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. There were 140 golfers who participated in the event and helped raise funds, including representatives from Bridgepoint Education, Ashford University, and community partners. In addition, 20 organizations served as sponsors of the event with Jobcase signing on as the title sponsor.

Rady Children’s Hospital is a medical facility in San Diego that provides services to some of the most vulnerable members of the community. Since it opened in 1954, the hospital has treated two million sick and injured children. It is San Diego County’s only hospital dedicated exclusively to pediatric care.

“Rady Children’s Hospital has become an important institution in San Diego, and Bridgepoint Education is pleased to support the hospital’s efforts to care for sick and injured children,” said Andrew Clark, chief executive officer at Bridgepoint Education. “The Bridgepoint Education Golf Invitational provides an opportunity for members of the San Diego community to help the hospital fulfill its mission.”

Over the past eight years, the Bridgepoint Education Golf Invitational has raised approximately $150,000 for Rady Children’s Hospital. In addition, the hospital was the beneficiary of Bridgepoint Education’s sponsorship of the Holiday Bowl in 2012, resulting in a $57,000 donation to Rady Children’s Hospital.

During the Bridgepoint Education Golf Invitational, participants enjoyed a round of golf with some fun additions along the course such as food trucks dispensing street tacos and pizza. There was also a hole-in-one contest. After the golf tournament, the event concluded with a raffle and live auction.

All funds raised will be donated to the Rady Hope and Healing Fund, which pays for a number of the most urgent needs for the hospital, including construction and improvements, contributions to the discovery of cures and treatments for childhood disease and injuries, Autism research and programs, the Peckham Center for cancer and blood disorders, the Heart Institute, and the Chadwick Center for children and families.
