As part of Bridgepoint Education’s biannual Heroes Day volunteer event, Bridgepoint employees in Denver worked alongside more than 200 members of the community as part of the Greenway Foundation’s Fall RiverSweep on Saturday, Sept. 24. The event, sponsored by Bridgepoint’s Mountain Region Green Team and supported by Bridgepoint Heroes, gave employees the opportunity to clean the areas of Fishback Park and City of Cuernavaca Park, both located in downtown Denver.
The cleanup of Platte River was one of many tasks completed by the Bridgepoint Denver volunteers. Other activities included pulling weeds, removing overgrowth at a nearby bridge, and cutting down branches of trees, called suckers, growing along downtown Denver sidewalks. All of the nature-focused activities were managed by the South Platte River Environmental Education (SPREE) team.
“As a member of the Denver community, it is important for Bridgepoint Education and its employees to provide their time and support in helping to beautify the Denver area,” said Jana Mathieson, regional communications and community relations manager for Bridgepoint Education. “Bridgepoint’s efforts to support the Greenway Foundation’s Fall RiverSweep was a great opportunity for us to give back to the community we serve.”
