In line with its mission to make higher education more accessible, Bridgepoint Education (NYSE: BPI) sponsored the 7th annual Finish Chelsea’s Run 5K Run/Walk that took place on Saturday, March 4. Bridgepoint has been a sponsor every year since the event’s inception.
The competitive run and fun run/walk serves as the primary fundraiser for the Chelsea's Light Foundation Sunflower Scholarship Fund, which honors the memory of Chelsea King whose life was cut short in 2010 by a senseless act of violence. The fund provides scholarships for San Diego County college-bound teens who exemplify Chelsea's academic prowess and "service-over-self" ethic.
Many Bridgepoint employees came together in Balboa Park to participate in the event, and they helped raise more than $15,000 for scholarships.
“We are so excited and honored to continue supporting this wonderful event,” said Jennifer Love Bruce, associate vice president of community relations for Bridgepoint Education. “Not only does it honor the memory of Chelsea King, but it raises money to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students who want to pursue a higher education.”
