Bridgepoint Education Becomes the Presenting Sponsor of the San Diego Symphony Summer Pops

Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of post secondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, has been named presenting sponsor of the San Diego Symphony's Summer Pops series.  The popular summertime tradition will now be known as the Bridgepoint Education Summer Pops.

“Bridgepoint Education is proud to be part of such an important piece of San Diego’s cultural heritage,” said Bridgepoint Education chief executive officer Andrew Clark. “For many years, the Summer Pops series has been bringing a wide range of great music to San Diego, and we’re pleased to help continue that tradition.”

The Bridgepoint Education Summer Pops will encompass a series of 31 concerts at the Embarcadero Marina Park South, 206 Marina Park Way, on the picturesque shores of San Diego Bay. Patrons will enjoy music that runs the spectrum from classical and patriotic to soul and mariachi. The Bridgepoint Education Summer Pops lineup will feature numerous famous guest stars, such as LeAnn Rimes, Michael Feinstein, Burt Bacharach, Kool & The Gang and special guest conductor Marvin Hamlisch. The series will also include perennial favorites such as an Independence Day concert and the season-ending Tchaikovsky Spectacular with the “1812 Overture.”

Bridgepoint Education has joined the San Diego Symphony at a significant juncture. Not only is the Symphony celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010, but it was recently re-categorized by the American League of Orchestras into its top tier, alongside the country’s most noteworthy orchestras, such as the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics.

“We are extremely appreciative and grateful to have Bridgepoint Education as a major sponsor of the San Diego Symphony. Bridgepoint’s distinguished leadership role sets an outstanding example for others to follow. It also helps the Symphony to more fully serve the community, all the while greatly enhancing the cultural life here in San Diego,” states Edward B. Gill, San Diego Symphony executive director.
