Bridgepoint Education Employees Join Junior Achievement San Diego at Valley Elementary School in Poway, Calif.
More than 50 "volunteachers" in 28 classes taught grown-up business

Volunteer teachers from Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) walked K-5 students at Valley Elementary in Poway, Calif., through a collection of business-themed lessons on May 22. Prepared by Junior Achievement (JA), the class materials are designed to expand elementary school children’s perception of how the world works for adults. The volunteers from Bridgepoint acted as a conduit for this information, teaching from the perspective of real-world adults with real-work information.

“We’re very grateful for the opportunity to support Junior Achievement,” said Jennifer Love Bruce, Bridgepoint Education’s associate vice president of Community Relations. “Their curriculum provides elementary school youth an excellent opportunity to see how adults think and work, through the eyes of grown-ups working in their community.”

Junior Achievement’s “what adults do” learning experience is at the core of JA Teach Day. Children in the classroom are exposed to different facets of an adult’s workday experience, and JA lessons relate big-picture economic concepts and responsibilities to each student’s experience in their family, community, and country.
